He received a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from the University of Ioannina, Greece in 2001 and a MSc degree in Chemical, Environmental and Computational Technology – Simulation in 2005 from the same university.
In 2010 he completed his Ph.D. at the department of Chemistry of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. The main objective of his thesis was the comprehension of biogeochemical cycles occurring in estuary systems affected by anthropogenic pollution activities, with emphasis on the chemical behavior and distribution of heavy metals and nutrients.
He is currently participating in MEDECOS project (”Decadal scale variability of the Mediterranean ecosystem”, MarinERA pilot call for international research projects on “Regional drivers of ecosystem change: Description, modelling and prediction”, EU/FP6).

Research Interests
Processes controlling biological organic and inorganic matter production, transfer and preservation in the water column and sediment during early diagenesis and burial, sources/transport pathways of pollutants (organic and inorganic) in the marine environment and organic biomarkers, are the main research interests of Dr. Parinos.
