Dr. Anastasios Papadopoulos is Senior Researcher at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (in the Institute of Inland Waters).

Dr. A. Papadopoulos earned his doctoral degree in Atmospheric Physics and Dynamic Meteorology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He holds a masterā€™s degree in Meteorology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Dr. A. Papadopoulos worked as a research scientist in the Atmospheric Modeling and Weather Group of the University of Athens (until 1999) and in the Institute of Oceanography of HCMR (until 2006). He mainly worked on atmospheric modeling and data assimilation techniques.

Dr. A. Papadopoulos has participated (as coordinator or researcher) in more than 50 European and national funded research projects. He was the coordinator of the Marie Curie Excellence Grant (PreWEC) at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research. He is a member of the scientific team of the POSEIDON operational system and the scientific responsible of the numerical weather prediction.

Dr. A. Papadopoulos is author or co-author of more than 35 publications in peer reviewed journals, 60 peer-reviewed publications in international and national conferences and more than 140 other publications in the fields of meteorology, mesoscale modelling, study of severe weather events and air pollution. He has been member of 1 Ph.D advisor committee and 5 MSc advisor committees.
