More than 1,800 Biodiversity Records Documented Across Attica in Just Four Days

From coastal wetlands and stream estuaries to urban parks and schoolyards, City Nature Challenge 2026 inspired hundreds of participants to explore and document the biodiversity of the Athens Metropolitan Area. Coordinated by HCMR for the first time, the initiative highlighted how Citizen Science can connect people with nature while generating valuable biodiversity data for research and conservation.
