Mrs Chryssi Mytilineou is a Research Associate Scientist Aā€™ working as Marine Biologist and Ichthyologist for the Institute of Marine Biological Resources, HCMR. She has a 27-years experience in Fisheries Biology, Ecology, Dynamics and Management. In the framework of this field, she has contributed with various publications and participated in various national and international congresses, national and international research projects funded by the EU or the Greek Government, national councils for fisheries management and ICES Working Groups.
Mrs Chryssi Mytilineou was born in Piraeus (Greece) in 1958. She holds a bachelorā€™s degree in Biology from the Aristoteles University of Thessaloniki (Greece). She completed her Masterā€™s education on Biological Oceanography at the University of Athens. Her thesis work focused on the biology of picarel, Spicara flexuosa, in the Patraikos Gulf.
Mrs Chryssi Mytilineou was a fellow of the Spanish Government at the ā€œInstituto de Ciencias del Marā€ (Barcelano) supervised by the Research Directrors Dr. J. Lleonart, Dr. F. Sarda and Dr. B. Morales-Nin. In this framework, she undertook education on fish population dynamics and fish and crustacean age, growth and biology by using software or methods, which were first introduced in the greek scientific studies.
Mrs Chryssi Mytilineou spent a monthā€™s training period in order to acquire skills in fish reproductive biology and hermaphroditism, supervised by Prof. S. Brusle at the University of Perpignan (France). She also was on a six-month sabbatical leave working on axillary seabream (Pagellus acarne) age, growth, reproduction, hermaphroditism and feeding, supervised by Prof. P. Economides at the University of Thessaloniki.
The last 10 years, Mrs Chryssi Mytilineou is interested and concentrated more on the research activity of IMBR, Deep-Water Fisheries and Environment, by participating and coordinating research projects and collaborating with other experienced in this activity scientific teams on topics relating deep-water fisheries to deep-water biological resources, sustainable management, deep-water biodiversity and environmental impact for an Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management. Nowadays, she leads a group, which is dedicated in studying deep-water fisheries in greek waters, new fisheries dependent or independent assessment approaches for deep-water biological resources and proposals for their management. Moreover, she takes part in a group assessing the interaction between deep-water corals, fish and deep-water fisheries for an ecosystem based management of deep waters.
