Dr. Corinne S. Martin is a fisheries biologist specialised in spatial ecology. After completing her Ph.D. at the University of Wales, Swansea (UK), she worked for five years as a post-doctoral researcher, and then a University lecturer, at Canterbury Christ Church University (UK). She then moved to the ‘Institut Français de Recherche pour l’Exploitation de la Mer’ (Ifremer) in Boulogne-sur-mer (France) to finalise the second phase of CHARM (‘Channel Habitat Atlas for Marine Resource Management’), a cross-border Interreg project she had been involved since 2003. In 2010, she started a two-year Marie-Curie Post-doctoral Fellowship at the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR, Greece). Under this ‘Intra-European Fellowships for Career Development’ scheme, she is working on the ‘Identification and Mapping of Essential Fish Habitats using Geographical Information Systems’ (EFH-GIS). In 2011, she will work as a researcher on the MEDISEH (‘Mediterranean Sensitive Habitats’) project, under the umbrella of MAREA (‘Mediterranean hAlieutic Resources Evaluation and Advice’).
