Dr. Eva Krasakopoulou is an Associate Researcher at the Institute of Oceanography, HCMR. She assumed this post in December 2006.

Dr. Krasakopoulou earned her doctoral degree in Chemical Oceanography from the University of Athens. She holds a master’s degree in Chemical Oceanography and a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Athens, GREECE.

Dr. Krasakopoulou has worked as a research associate in chemical oceanography in the Institute of Oceanography since 1994. She was actively involved in many EU and national multidisciplinary research projects focusing on the biogeochemical processes and dynamics in the coastal and open sea environment of the Eastern Mediterranean and their responses to circulation features, climatic and environmental change. In 4 of the national projects, she was the coordinator of the entire team that included scientists from the other oceanographic disciplines (physics, biology, geology). Currently she is involved in the FP7 MedSeA project studying the acidification effects on Mediterranean biogeochemistry, ecosystems, and the ecosystem services they support, and the MedEcos and MedEx (Marinera) EU projects.

Dr. Krasakopoulou has been scientific evaluator in peer review journals (Oceanologica Acta, Mediterranean Marine Science, Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science, Fresenius Environmental Bulletin).

During the period 2005–2008 she was Associate lecturer at the Technological Educational Institute of Messolonghi (TEI), Dept. of Aquaculture & Fisheries, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, while during 2003-2005 she was Associate lecturer at the Dept. of Marine Sciences, University of Aegean, in the field of ‘Biogeochemical Processes in the Marine Environment’.
